Patient and Researcher Survey for Research Priorities

Patient and Researcher Survey From The James Lind Alliance Heart Surgery Priority Setting Partnership

Please click here to complete a survey to assist the James Lind Alliance Heart Surgery Priority Setting Partnership in identifying the top 10 priorities for research.

In March 2018, the Heart Surgery Priority Setting Partnership launched its Initial Survey. The object is to find the questions that could be used in future research, asked by people dealing with heart surgery every day.

Over 600 people submitted more than 1,000 questions to the Initial Survey. During analysis, duplicate questions were combined and the summary questions were entered into a systematic review to eliminate those which are already being addressed by research.

The remaining 45 unanswered questions are listed in this Second Survey. Questions have been grouped into categories, listed below in alphabetical order:
Anaesthesia
Bypass surgery (CABG)
Intraoperative management
Longer-term outcomes
Patient selection/risk stratification
Post-operative management & complications
Pre- and post-operative care
Specific diseases & conditions
Valve surgery
